Description:

Designed to be carried on the back of an assistant gunner, the field mount for the MG42 Machine Gun could be rapidly unfolded to serve as an adjustable tripod or as the base for an anti-aircraft pintle mount (not included). Finished in a dark gray with a red undercoat, the top section of the base is marked "43/btm 1279/b" on top, with the "btm" repeated on some small parts, a "WaA879" (Adalbert Fischer, Guttstadt, East Prussia (now Dobre Miasto, Poland) stamp on top, full elevation and traverse adjustment, integral recoil buffer and a base for an optical sight. With a range chart on the rear of the base and a pair of leather pads on the front leg.

Rating Definition:

Shoulder straps are absent, otherwise this field mount is excellent overall as early post-war repainted, showing mild wear on the paint and full function in the adjustment hardware.
