Description:

This is a WW II Japanese Type 2 Paratrooper rifle manufactured by the Nagoya Arsenal. The top of the receiver has a full Royal Chrysanthemum intact with the Kana markings for "2 Type". The left side of the barrel takedown mechanism or attaching section is marked with assembly number "797" and on the left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number "4635" next to the Nagoya Arsenal factory mark. It has the later production tangent rear sight graduated to 1,500 meters with thin anti-aircraft wings, peep sight and an inverted "V" front with guards. It has a two piece stock with a cupped buttplate and side mounted sling swivels. The front barrel band has two screws and the rear has a slot in the top. The takedown hardware is matching on the side plates and so does the bolt, assembly and dust cover. The bolt handle is the correct plum shaped version. It has the standard late war hardwood stock with the large drain hole on the bottom rear of the barrel section. It is complete with a late war all blued, Type 30 bayonet and scabbard with a rubberized belt hanger.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with some blue loss and light pitting on the side of the front barrel band and on the bolt body from cycling the action. The trigger housing and floor plate are starting to brown out slightly. The stock and handguards are all in original condition showing minor handling marks and light pressure dents in a few places. As noted this rifle has all matching serial numbers. The bayonet is in excellent condition with 98% original blue overall with the scabbard being fine with 80% thinning blue. A very nice all matching Japanese Type II paratrooper rig.
