Description:

This is an example of an exceptional late production Series 32 Japanese Type 99 service rifle. This specific rifle was manufactured under the Nagoya Arsenal at the Toyo Kogyo factory in Hiroshima. The top of the receiver has the Royal Chrysanthemum and Kanji markings (unmilled) and the left side of the receiver has the serial number and factory proofs. It is fitted with the fixed inverted "v" front sight with guards with the adjustable rear sight, manufactured with the mounts for the anti-aircraft wings, however not installed. It has the early style middle barrel band with monopod mount, however no mono-pod installed. It has the original pistol grip stock with finger grooves on the sides with no drain hole in the stock with a cupped edge sheet metal buttplate. It is fitted with the early style bolt knob and cocking piece. This exceptional rifle is complete with a late pattern all blued Type 30 bayonet with the square cross-guard, wooden handles, and leather frog along with a small piece of original Japanese rope tired around the middle of the stock.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 99% of the bright original blue finish with only minor edge and high spot wear. The bolt assembly, is completely matching. The stock and handguards are all in excellent condition, never having been sanded with the original arsenal finish under and GI applied old coat of varnish, which has very nicely preserved the wood. The bayonet, scabbard and frog are also all in like new condition with 98% of the original blue finish with minor wear on the scabbard. A really nice all original and top notch Japanese Type 99 rifle set.
