Tight English floral scroll engraving covers the side plates, receiver, trigger guard, hammers, break lever and forearm hardware. "W R PAPE" is engraved in a banner on both side plates along with a few roses. The barrel rib has a single steel bead sight and is engraved "W R PAPE NEWCASTLE ON TYNE INVENTOR OF CHOKE BORING". Pape is considered to be the inventor of chokes in shotgun barrels because in Pape's patent no. 1501 of 1866 he outlines how to make a barrel with a choke.
