Manufactured from 1886 to 1890 with this example having a half octagon barrel chambered for the 40-90 caliber and a full length magazine. The left side of the receiver wall is marked "BULLARD REPEATING ARMS COMPANY/SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. PAT. AUG. 16 1881", with extractor hole between "PAT" and "AUG". The right side is marked "Model 1886" and the top of the chamber is marked "Cal/40/90". Equipped with a combination beach front sight and a tang peep sight featuring a May 6, 1884 patent date with an open rear dovetail slot on the barrel. The serial number appears on the upper rear of the frame directly behind the hammer. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with an iron end cap and checkered hard rubber Bullard buttplate.

Fine. The rifle retains half of the original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance with some minor scratches and limited minor spotting/pitting. The lightly sanded wood is very good with a few minor pressure dents. The toe of the buttplate is missing. Mechanically fine.
