This forty-eight inch cannon or swivel gun was likely mounted to a vessel traversing the waters of the southeast Asian archipelagos. These canons were used for centuries and were even used during the Filipino Insurrection against U.S. soldiers. As far as cannons go, this example is lightweight at forty-seven pounds and could thus be moved in order to deal with threats from varying direction. It has a part octagon, part round barrel with traditional flared end and small ornamentation in the Lankata style. The opening is around one and a half inches.
