Manufactured from 1878 to 1912. This revolver features a typical finely executed New York floral scroll and punch dot engraving on the frame, breech and muzzle ends of the barrel and on the barrel lug. The side of the barrel, cylinder flats and back strap have a geometric design flanked by floral scroll. The top of barrel rib is marked with the two line address and patent dates: "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. PAT'D JAN 17 & 24. 65. JULY 14. 65. / AUG 24. 69. APR 20. 75 FEB 20. & DEC 18. 1877 REISSUE JULY 25. 1871.". Matching serial number on the butt, cylinder, barrel and barrel latch. This model features pinned blade front and notched rear sights. Six shot fluted cylinder with automatic ejector. Casehardened trigger guard, trigger and hammer, with remaining surfaces blue. Fitted with a laynard swivel checkered hard rubber S&W monogram embossed grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine exhibiting 70% original blue finish thinning along high points and the balance is a mottled patina with minor spotting overall. The trigger guard has a smooth mottled gray patina and the hammer retains 60% original case colors. The grips are very good with a minor crack at the top of the left panel, some normal handling wear and crisp checkering. The action needs work, the hammer does not always hold the full cock position. The markings and engraving are crisp.
