Unique M.& M.T. Co Inscribed Colt Pocket Positive Double Action Revolver with Merchants & Miners Transportation Co. History Book

Manufactured in 1914. The butt is marked "M.&M.T.CO." which stands for the Merchants & Miners Transportation Co. which was founded in Baltimore in 1852. It was a shipping company with cargo and passenger vessels which sailed from Boston to Miami. Through it's history the company had 64 ships and a few tugboats. Final liquidation of the company took place on March 31, 1952. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/patent dates, "POCKET/POSITIVE 32 COLT CTG." on the left side and the Rampant Colt on the left side of the frame. Blade front, frame notch rear sights, all blue finish and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with "COLT" in an oval at the top. A copy of the book "Merchants & Miners Transportation Co. The Queen of Sea Routes" by Edward A. Mueller and an original routes pamphlet accompany the revolver.

ConditionVery fine. The revolver retains at least 90% original high polish blue finish with some muzzle and high point wear, and some thinning on the frame, cylinder and grip straps. The grips are excellent with minimal handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine. The book is fine, the pamphlet is very good plus.
