Manufactured in 1954 (receiver). The rifle is chambered in 35 Remington. According to Dean Whitaker in his study "THE WINCHESTER MODEL 70, 1937-1964," 35 Remington is not a cataloged chambering for Model 70 Featherweight rifles. The Winchester factory style oval proof is stamped on the barrel and receiver with the left side of the barrel having the Winchester legend. Hooded front sight, adjustable folding leaf rear sight and receiver tapped for scope/sight mounting. Polished bolt numbered to gun, hallow bolt knob, straight receiver tang, late safety and sling swivels. The high comb pistol grip stock features checkering and a checkered aluminum buttplate.

Very fine as professionally refurbished/restored. The rifle retains nearly all of the blue finish showing the slightest handling marks. The stock is very fine with some mild handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
