Description:

This U.S. Army Spencer Model 1860 rifle has a front sight doubling as the lug for a socket type bayonet (not included), with a folding ladder rear sight graduated to 800 yards. Maintains the original trigger without the stabler cut-off. The top of the action is marked "SPENCER REPEATING/RIFLE CO. BOSTON MASS./PAT'D MARCH 6 1860." Standard military style stock with three barrel bands and forend tip.

Rating Definition:

Good as period refinished. The barrel has a mottled gray patina while the other components have at one point refinished nitre blue/blue and retain 50% of the finish with gray-brown patina on the balance. The refinished wood has slivers of the upper edges of the forearm absent, a small crack on the edge on the right in front of the center barrel band, a hairline crack at the junction with the front of the frame on the right, three hairline cracks in the left side of the wrist, and various minor scratches, dings, and dents. Mechanically fine with clear markings.
