Description:

Competing against Colt's Bisley Model Single Action, as well as the English-made target arms, Smith & Wesson New Model Number Three Target found many buyers overseas, and was considered one of the top competition revolvers through the close of the black powder era. Patridge blade front and adjustable square notch target rear sights, with the one line Springfield address on the rib and matching numbers on the latch, barrel, cylinder and butt. A number of English "crossed scepter" proofs have been added to the left side of the barrel and inside the cylinder flutes. Fitted with a wide checkered target hammer and checkered select grade walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with 80% of the original blue finish, showing a number of dings and scratches, bright edge wear, and areas of brown patina. Small patches of pitting are visible on the barrel and cylinder. Bright original case colors are present in the protected areas of the hammer and trigger guard, with the remainder turning silver. Grips are very good, with a few tiny chips and dings. Overall a rare and desirable configuration for a New Model No. 3.
