Description:

Manufactured circa 1875 this is a fine and highly desirable First Model Schofield. Blade front and notch rear sights, with the two-line address/S&W patent markings on the left side of the barrel, one-line Schofield patent on the right side, the distinctive frame-mounted latch, matching numbered cylinder, small "L" stamps, casehardened hammer and trigger guard, smooth grips with a "JBL" cartouche on the left side, and a "US" marked butt.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with 75% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, bright edge wear, some pitting around the muzzle and light handling marks overall. Vivid original color is present on the hammer with traces on the trigger guard. The grips are good showing an old revarnish with some mild scratches and dents. Mechanically excellent. These First Model Schofields are prized by collectors in any condition as they were issued to Cavalry regiments through the Indian Wars. This particular revolver would rank amongst the top 20% of known examples.
