Introduced in 1936, this model was developed by Winchester to keep pace with it's competitors in the low priced, single barrel, exposed hammer shotgun market. The upper left rear of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent pending marking followed by "-MODEL 37-STEELBILT - 12 GA./FULL - WINCHESTER/TRADE MARK". The Winchester oval proof mark is on the top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The underside of the receiver is marked "WINCHESTER" with red filled letters. It features a single brass bead sight, 2 3/4 inch chamber, auto ejector and choked full with a 14 1/8 inch length of pull. The mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a checkered Winchester buttplate. The model was discontinued in 1963 after slightly over 1,000,000 were sold. It comes with a custom made wooden case with a glass door made to hold all 5 shotguns in this lot and a boxed Limited edition 1 of 2,000 Model 37 Red Letter Series pocket knife set. The knives have a 2 inch blade, 4 3/4 inch OAL, images of a shotgun, gauge (12, 16, 20, 28 and 410 respectively), red "MOD. 37" on the blade and stag horn scales. A "Winchester Shells and Cartridges" ammunition book, Winchester "Ammunition Handbook", Winchester Model 37 instructions pamphlet and an original warranty card also accompany the shotguns. One will look a long time to duplicate this set!

Very fine. The barrel has a smooth brown patina. The receiver and trigger guard retain 30% original thin blue finish with a smooth plum patina on the balance. The wood is fine with some scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The case and the knives are all excellent and the box is very good with the lid beginning to separate.

The receiver retain 40% original blue finish with loss due to flaking and showing a smooth brown and gray patina on the balance. The wood is fine with a few minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.

Professionally restored to factory specification. The shotgun retains 99% plus blue finish with only light handling marks and some minor pitting under the finish on the lower breech end of the barrel and on the barrel lug. The wood shows only light handling marks and a repaired chip on the stock toe. It has clear markings and excellent mechanics.

Very good. The shotgun has traces of blue with the balance a smooth mottled brown patina with strong original blue finish in protected areas. The forearm is excellent with light handling marks. The stock is a replacement with a "BISHOP" marked black plastic checkered buttplate and is excellent with minor handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
