This extensive game scene engraved rifle features a blue barrel manufactured with a hooded ramp front sight and an adjustable folding leaf rear sight and French gray finish on the remaining parts. The breech end of the barrel is decorated with floral scroll wedge engraving on the sides. Polished bolt and gold washed serrated trigger. The front of the receiver ring is engraved with a rhinoceros in full standing profile, with finely cut tall grass, and trees in the fore and background on the right side. A bull elephant with raised trunk as if in mid trumpet in a finely detailed jungle scene is on the left face. with the remainder of the action featuring intricate and deeply relieved scroll leaf and punch dot engraving. Signed "Cortis" under the elephant. The hinged floor plate is engraved with a cape buffalo charging across the savannah, fine detail is given to the musculature, bordered with floral scroll engraving below and on the attaching metal. The trigger guard is engraved with a male lion's head with a finely detailed full mane amid tall grasses. The trigger guard is signed "LC" for Lilly Cortis, as is the left receiver face. Floor plate is signed "RDEWIL" for Rene Dewil. The stock is extra fancy select walnut with a high gloss finish, fine line checkering and floral and punch dot hand carving on the forearm and grip area, contrasting forend and grip cap with a diamond shaped brass inset on the grip cap, raised comb, cheekpiece, rubber vented Browning recoil pad and sling swivel studs. With a hard leather takedown case with brass fittings.
