Produced in the Remington Custom Shop, a Premier Grade firearm starts with a full set of fresh components, which are then hand-fitted and assembled by a master gunsmith, subjected to engraving and embellishment representing up to an entire week of a skilled engraver's labor, and finished off with a set of top quality hardwood furniture, in this case an attractive straight wrist checkered walnut stock. A dovetailed bead front sight and folding adjustable notch rear sight are installed on the barrel shroud, with the two-line address and patent date on top and a pair of 3 1/4 inch long wedges of scroll and leaf pattern engraving at the breech. Mounted to the upper tang is a Marble flip up short range peep sight, which has been professionally shortened and modified to fit on the rear of the receiver without undue interference with the engraving which covers over 95% of the surface, including vine accents on the safety lever, a stylized Maltese cross on the front of the magazine, floral blooms on the trigger guard shoulders, and a set of game scenes; the right side showing an elk and a juvenile bear in two mountain scene panels, a stag head on the top, and the left showing three deer in two woodlands clearing scenes. Fitted with a fancy walnut checkered straight wrist stock, with a Schnabel tip forearm, attractive tiger stripe and marbled grain on the buttstock, and a smooth steel buttplate with Remington-UMC markings.

Very fine, with 85% plus of the original blue finish, with some thing along the high edges, a small area of brown patina around the left side of receiver and magazine, and scattered light scratches. The reoiled wood is very good, with a few tiny chips around the buttplate and tangs, a thin short crack on top of the wrist, minor dings, and attractive and well defined grain. Mechanically excellent. Unusually for a Premier, this example shows hallmarks of a firearm that was actively used but well cared-for during it's service life, and the tang sight is unique among the Remington Premier firearms that have passed through our doors; while every Premier was a fully functional, top-rate firearm, they are rarely seen with any real evidence of being used as a "day to day" shooting piece.
