A very fine example of an Ithaca Gun Company M6 Survival rifle as issued by the United States Air Force. This is the original version with the 14.5 inch barrels, that has been correctly registered with the BATF as an "AOW", (Any Other Weapon). Marked on the left side of the receiver "U.S.A.F. PROPERTY / 128304/ RIFLE-SHOTGUN. SURVIVAL/CAL. .22/410, M6". The right side is marked "ITHACA GUN CO., INC. ITHACA N.Y.", with the crossed cannon ordnance stamp. These rifles have a break open action with a fixed front and two position flip rear sight. It has squeeze type trigger with the stamped, skeletonized stock with a cartridge block located inside the stock. The comb area lifts up to show that the spare cartridge block which holds nine 22 Hornet cartridges and four .410 shotgun shells. The consignor noted that this rifle was given to him by a supply Officer in Bangkok, Thailand in 1966.
Very fine condition overall with the arsenal parkerized finish having 95% of a repainted black protective exterior finish. Mechanically it is in very fine condition, correctly hand cycles and dry fires. Note: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), AOW, (Any Other Weapon) that is currently registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF&E) that has been classified as a "Curio or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
