Description:

This is an excellent example of a standard Leuchtpistole (flare gun) as developed in 1936 by the Walther company that has been fitted with the ultra rare Sturmpistole Assembly. This assembly consisted of a detachable, side folding lightweight steel stock and the high angle, folding grenade launcher sight that fits over the barrel of the flare pistol. Also normally included with this conversion set is a rifled steel barrel insert. This insert would allowed the flare pistol to fire rifled high explosive grenades. This barrel insert could be removed to convert it back into a standard flare gun, which is absent from this pistol. These conversion sets were normally installed on the "Z" marked leuchtpistole, to designate it being used with the rifled steel barrel insert. The left side of the aluminum frame is marked "ayf/43" indicating it was manufactured at the erma factory in 1943 while the left side has the standard "Eagle/280" Waffenamt proofs for the erma factory. The flare gun itself has the all black anodized finish on the barrel and frame with the conversion stock and front sight set having a light desert tan colored paint finish, (similar to the Afrika Colors).

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% of the black anodized finish on the flare pistol with extensive wear marks present on top of ad side of barrel. Mechanically excellent. Stock is excellent with 97% of the original desert tan colors on the stock set. This is a very rare WWII Nazi Sturmpistole Assembly.
