Silver Trophy Goblet for a 1944 Shooting Competition in Nazi-Occupied Belgium

Measuring 3 3/4 inches wide and 7 1/2 inches tall, this goblet is finished in silver with no visible hall marks. The brim is decorated with a raised bunting pattern, with the inscription "(single sig rune) Den Siegern im Parr-Schiessen (double sig rune) Beverloo 6.2.1944" below, commemorating the victors in a team shooting competition. Beverloo Camp, located in Leopoldsberg, Belgium, was a World War One infantry training camp. In the inter-war period, it served as the pistol and rifle shooting venue for the 1920 Summer Olympics. Following the Nazi Occupation, the camp served as the training ground for Hitler Youth being prepared for service with the 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend, which would deploy to Caen in March of 1944 and participate in the defense of Normandy, and it also served as a component of the pan-European Concentration Camp system.

ConditionVery good, with some light handling marks. The exterior has been gently cleaned, with a dark patina showing around the bunting and on the interior.
