Description:

Manufactured in 1914. Features a pinned blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight graduated to 2000 yards and a saddle ring on the left side of the receiver. The top of the barrel has the two line address and patent information ahead of the rear sight and "30 W.C.F." at the breech. This cartridge was the first U.S. rifle cartridge made with smokeless powder and was first used in the Model 1894. The upper tang is stamped with the three line model/trade mark information. Serial number is stamped on the underside of the frame. The Winchester "WP" is marked on the top of the frame and the barrel at the breech with an additional crossed flags "DC/P" or "Dominion of Canada Proof" on the barrel. 5,000 such marked carbines were purchased by Great Britain in 1915 for Royal Navy use. It is mounted on a smooth forearm with a single barrel band and a straight grip stock with crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The rifle retains 80% of the slightly faded original finish on the barrel and magazine tube with some minor marks and scratches. The lower tang also retains most of the finish. The frame and other components have some traces of the blue finish with an otherwise gray patina. The wood is very good with some scratches, dings, and marks. Mechanically excellent.
