This is a very unique, one of a kind, factory prototype revolver that was not put into production by Colt due to complications with firing the 256 Magnum cartridge from a revolver. As the included Colt letter notes, the gun was originally kept in the Colt Archive Collection until it was shipped in August 1999. It was finished blue with a bare unfinished and unpolished frame with milling cuts still visible. The barrel has the caliber over "10 TW" electro pencilled on the left and the serial number is electro penciled on the bottom of the flat top New Frontier frame which also has the two line three date patent information followed by the Rampant Colt. Under the left grip, the straps are marked with the serial "33261SA". It features a ramp front sight, frame mounted rebounding firing pin, factory modified cut down flat face hammer with round hole, and came factory fitted with a Weaver K2.5 scope on a Buehler scope mount. Includes a letter from the Colt Office of the Historian, a photocopy of the gun as it appeared in "Colt SAA Post War Models," and a copy of a photograph.
