According to the included letter from Colt's Office of the Historian, this "revolver is a one-of-a-kind experimental prototype developed to determine the feasibility of introducing the Bisley New Frontier model revolver to the Colt product line." As it was decided that this model should not go into production, this is the only Bisley New Frontier ever made and would be an exclusive item for a lucky collector. Colt's office also notes that this gun should never be loaded as it is considered a collectable only and not a serviceable firearm. It has a ramp front sight and a New Frontier style adjustable rear sight with a Bisley style curved hammer, trigger, and grip. The only markings are the serial number on the lower frame and the three date two line patent information on the left side of the frame followed by the Rampant Colt. The gun was in the Colt Archive Collection until it was shipped to a collector in 1999.
