Description:

The rifle was manufactured in 1887. The rifle is equipped with a German silver blade front sight and a buckhorn rear sight on a barrel marked with the two line address ahead of the rear sight and "22 SHORT" at the breech. The serial number and 1879 patent date are stamped on the lower tang. Blue barrel with the remaining metal surfaces casehardened. It is fitted with a smooth forearm with ebony forend insert and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The rifle retains 30% plus of the original finish with significant finish remaining on the barrel which has some edge wear and a gray/brown patina on the frame, lever, and buttplate. Some case color traces show on the mostly "silvered out" receiver on the right side. The stock and forearm are very good with various minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
