The upper tang is marked "MODEL. 1873" flanked by the decorative foliate design, the serial number is at the rear of the lower tang and the bottom of the brass cartridge elevator is marked "38 CAL." Full magazine tube and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with forend cap and crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included). Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The rifle retains 30% original blue mostly contained to the frame and on the upper portion of the magazine and barrel in the protected areas with otherwise a brown patina. The edges of the frame have the brown patina fading to gray or bright. The buttplate has a gray patina with some oxidation spots. The wood is very good with a darker contrasting coloration on the forearm and various minor scratches, dings, and marks. Mechanically fine.
