Scarce Winchester Third Model 1876 Lever Action Rifle

This Third Model 1876 Lever Action Rifle produced in 1886 with the dust cover guide rail integrally machined to the receiver. Blade front sight and adjustable folding ladder rear sight graduated to 1,000 yards and marked "1876" at the top. The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two line address/King's Improvement patent dates and "CAL 45-60W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang is marked "{MODEL 1876}", the serial number is on the lower tang and the cartridge elevator is marked "45-60". Blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever, forend cap and buttplate. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with an iron forend cap and straight grip stock with steel end cap and crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included).

ConditionAbout good. The rifle retains traces of the original blue finish primarily on the hidden and recessed areas. The remaining areas have faded to a blue-gray patina. There are several spots of light pitting on the sideplates and both sides of the receiver. The blue on the lower tang has aged to a brown patina. The hammer, lever and crescent steel buttplate have half of the original case colors remaining. The markings on the barrel and receiver are sharp. The stock and forearm are good with traces of the original finish and moderate handling wear with various minor dings and marks including two chipped areas on the right side of the butt. Mechanically fine.
