Introduced in 1996 this was intended to be Colt's long range premier AR15 target/varmint rifle, as it was fitted with an extra long (24 inch) heavy HBAR- type stainless steel match barrel that features a custom flash hider on the end. It is marked on top of the barrel, "MP 5.56 NATO 1/9 HBAR ELITE" with a flat top upper receiver (without the carrying handle and rear sight). The receiver has the standard Colt factory markings on the left side of the magazine well and it fitted with a match grade trigger group. The handguard is all aluminum free-floating version with sling swivel and stud. It has the standard Colt black plastic buttstock with a checkered buttplate with trapdoor. Complete with a Leupold Mark III 6.5-20x power adjustable scope mounted in a set of Colt factory high rise rail adapter and rings set. It is complete with one 20 round magazine.
