Drawing directly from their experience in sporting arm production, Sauer & Son manufactured a series of Drilling combination guns on order for the Luftwaffe, which were issued as part of the survival gear on aircraft operating in North Africa circa 1941. Raised bead front sight, with a flip-up rear controlled by the selector switch, marked with the Luftwaffe eagle on the right barrel, light engraving at the breeches, "KRUPP-LAUFSTAHL" and "J.P.SAUER & SOHN, SUHL" on each barrel, and "9,3 x 74. R." on the rib. Light scroll engraving is present on the frame, with the Suhl address on each side, light engraving on the screws, dual triggers with a single-set front trigger, a Greener-pattern safety on the left side of the stock wrist and the selector on the upper tang. The marking "W.St." has been added just behind the selector. Checkered pistol grip stock, with a splinter forearm, steel grip cap, raised cheekpiece, sling swivels and a serrated "SuS" marked buttplate. Measurements: chokes - full, chambers - 2 1/2 inch, weight - 6 pounds 2.6 ounces, drop at comb - 1 1/2 inches, drop at heel - 2 1/2 inches, length of pull - 14 inches.

Good as partially refurbished, with 95% of the period gunsmith blue finish on the barrels, showing mild spotting and handling marks overall. Some detail has been lost on the Luftwaffe eagle, and the barrel rib is starting to detach. 70% original case colors are present on the receiver, with some fading to brown along the edges and areas of mixed black and re-blue on the repaired trigger guard and upper tang. The stock is good, with dents, scuffs, and flecks of white paint. Mechanically excellent.
