Fine example of a Venezuelan contract FN 49 semi-automatic rifle manufactured by the FN factory in Herstal, Belgium. Approximately 8000 rifles were produced under this contract in two different blocks, one in 1949 and the second in 1950 with this rifle manufactured in the second order delivered circa 1951. It has the Venezuelan crest on top of the receiver ring with the right side marked: "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE HERSTAL BELGIQUE". It has standard military sights. It is fitted with the original walnut stock and two piece hand guard set. The right rear side of the stock has the small circular Venezuelan inspection stamp from the FN factory. The barrel is correctly fitted with the original FN pattern flash hider. This rifle has been assembled (as Venezuela never purchased any sniper rifles) with an original FN 49 pattern sniper scope base and Echo mount with a second type OIP sniper scope. The scope is marked on top of the tube with ABL-1951/V5-OS 784-010 B.G./TELESCOPE/No.808" with the front sunshade marked "ABL No.808".
