Manufactured in 1939, and subsequently custom embellished with extensive scroll engraving, fine gold border inlays on the frame and extension, and other accents. Fixed sights, with "1939" on the chamber and "S/42" on the front toggle link, a 1 1/4 inch wedge of scroll engraving on top of the barrel, golden circles around the "eagle/63" and "droop wing eagle" extension, geometric designs on the pins and floral designs on the grip screws. The grip straps are sharply checkered, including along the back of the stock lug, with a pair of smooth unmarked grip panels. With a red leatherette case, with a white and black fabric lined French-cut interior.
Very fine as professionally embellished and refinished, showing 98% of the blue with some light handling marks. Some of the components are unnumbered. The grips are also very fine with a few dings, some light polishing marks and attractive grain and color. The case is good, with some exterior scuffs and interior staining. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: The consignor states that the grips are made of antique material, and that the pistol has been in his possession in this configuration since 1964 as it is configured.
