(AM:1864-1926) This bust of Will Rogers shows the humorist looking straight ahead with a sheepish grin on his face and is wearing his all familiar cowboy hat. This bronze looks almost like the artist himself but is Will Rogers. Charles Russell cast many different bronzes of Will Rogers as each knew each other well and were considered to be good friends. The bronze rests on a 2 inch circular black marble plinth with a diameter of 6 inches. Further dimensions: Ht: 12" length: 10" width: 9", weighs approximately 28 lbs. The bronze is signed on the back "CM Russell/1904/RBW (Roman Bronze Works)". The bronze is accompanied with a copy of the book "Will Rogers: THE MAN AND HIS TIMES" by Richard M. Ketchum with a picture case.
Very good overall with a dark bronze patina. The felt base pad is partially separated from the plinth. The book is very good with some age spots on the page edges, and assorted light to moderate scuffs on the case as well as a separated rear flap.
