Fine Documented Omaha Shipped First Generation Colt Frontier Six Shooter Single Action Army Revolver

The included factory letter copy confirms the configuration and that it was shipped with four other revolvers of this type to Walter G. Clarke Company in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 29, 1902. It has the standard blade and notch sights, one-line barrel address, stamped "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" marking on the left side of the barrel, standard patent marking and circled Rampant Colt emblem on the left side of the frame, matching serial numbers, and a pair of checkered grips with silver Colt medallions. In the early 20th century Omaha remained a launching point for people heading to the Great Plains and the West and was full of gambling, liquor, prostitution, and other criminal activity. Mob boss Tom Dennison arrived in Omaha just two years before the revolver arrived and was particularly powerful during Prohibition.

ConditionVery fine as fitted with replacement grips. 50% plus of the bright original high polish blue finish and vivid case colors remain. The balance has primarily gray patina. There are some spots of slight surface pitting. The professionally made modern grips are near mint with crisp checkering and some minor handling marks. The action functions perfectly, and the markings are crisp.
