Pre-War/Post-War Colt Single Action Army Revolver

The frame was manufactured in 1940, only 203 serial numbers before first generation production ended and almost certainly was assembled and shipped after WWII due to post-war cylinder with the Rampant Colt on rear frame. Only an estimated 506 pre-war SAAs were chambered .44 S&W special. This example has the standard markings and features including matching serial and assembly numbers and is fitted with a pair of relief carved grips with long horn steer heads on each panel looking down.

ConditionVery fine. 98% plus of the original blue finish remains along with nearly all of the original case colors. There are only some slight scratches, fading at the muzzle, thin and light cylinder drag lines, and faint handling marks. The replacement grips are very good with some minor handling marks and attractive carving and natural grain. The action functions perfectly.
