Description:

Manufactured from 1870 until 1874 with a total production of approximately 32,000 revolvers. This revolvers serial number falls into the Second Model range, however does not have the interlocking hammer and latch. The revolver features floral scroll and punch dot engraving on the barrel sides. Cylinder flats and frame. The sides of the top strap have a geometric design. And there is a geometric style border on the frame. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the one-line address and five patent dates. The rear face of the cylinder, barrel and the barrel latch are marked with the assembly number "V230" and the serial number is on the butt. Pinned blade front sight with fixed rear sight. The cylinder, hammer and trigger are finished gold and the remaining metal surfaces are silver plated. Fitted with smooth two piece grips. Comes with a letter from Smith & Wesson authority Roy Jinks dated 8/14/68 and a factory letter from 2015 by Roy G. Jinks indicating the revolver was likely sold on October 30, 1873, and delivered to Wexel & DeGress Co. in New York City or Mexico City. The engraving and grips were added by the distributor.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as period replated with 99% of the gold and silver finish remaining. The slightly undersize grips are fine with an attractive color and grain. The engraving and markings are crisp and clear. The revolver is difficult to break open, however the action functions fine.
