Cased Pair of Engraved W. Parker Percussion Pistols with Accessories

A) Parker Pocket Pistol

These pocket pistols were manufactured by William Parker at Holborn in London circa the 1830s-1840. Parker held a royal warrant for manufacturing guns and is well known for pocket and holster pistols as well as brass barrelled blunderbusses and government contract musketoons. His pistols were used to arm the first officers of the London Police in 1829. After 1840, he was part of Parker, Field, & Co. which later became Parker, Field, & Sons. Both pistols are marked "PARKER" on the locks below the bolsters and "LONDON" on the barrels. The underside of the barrels have London "crown/V" and "crown/CP" proofmarks. The full length stocks have checkered grips and silver initial shields. Gun A includes a ramrod with brass tip. The case contains a bore rod, cleaning tip, caps, more than twenty-four lead balls, patches, powder flask, nipple wrench, and an oiler and has a "W. Parker/GUN MAKER" label with two gentlemen and a pair of hunting dogs.

ConditionVery good. The lock and barrel are mostly bright with remnants of the original case colors in the protected areas. The trigger guard, wedge, and entry pipe retain traces of the original blue finish. There is some minor spotting. The stock is also very good with crisp checkering, several small pressure marks, and some light scratches. The lock functions very well, and the markings are distinct. The case is fine with moderate storage wear on the exterior and aging of the interior lining including some tears. The accessories are fine.
