Description:

Measuring 35 inches in overall length with a 29 7/8 inch straight triple fuller blade, double edged, with a set of "X/X" stamps in each fuller. The grip is solid wood with a single spiral groove, enclosed by a welded steel bar basket guard with a series of heart-shaped borders and punches on the plates and a hemispherical pommel cap grooved to form a maltese cross design. While there are no makers or unit marks, the construction and design are appropriate for a Scottish enlisted man's sword for the 18th or early 19th century.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The steel shows a mixed gray patina, with scattered pitting, brown spots and mild wear. The blade shows a small amount of bending on the upper third, and a few impact cracks and dents are present on the guard. The grip is fair, with cracks and splits.
