Colt London Agency Shipped Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless Semi-Automatic Pistol with British Military Proofs and Finish

According to factory records (copy of letter included) this pistol was one of 75 shipped to Colt's London Agency in 26 October 1904 in blue finish with unlisted grips. Proofmarks from the London and Birmingham proof houses are present, along with tonnage markings on the barrel, a crossed scepter proof on the right side of the frame, and a matte black "military paint" finish overall, typically seen on Commonwealth-issued firearms during World War Two. While no paper trail was supplied, the most logical chain of events is arrival at London (and proofing at the London House) in 1904, acquisition by the Government in the 1930s or 40s, painted black at an arsenal, and then a release back to the commercial market by way of Birmingham. Fixed sights, with the early two-block "BROWNING'S PATENT" patent and address markings on the left side of the slide ahead of the Rampant Colt, the aforementioned British proofs, a set of checkered "COLT" scalloped banner grips and a full blue "CAL.32/COLT" magazine.

ConditionVery good as arsenal finished with 90% of the matte black paint showing some areas of flaking, scattered scuffs and mild handling marks. The grips are very good with some mild wear. Mechanically excellent.
