Description:

Manufactured circa 1942-1943. U.S. inspected Commando revolvers were issued to state militia forces, security teams at war-essential industrial centers, and similar "home front" applications. Fixed sights, the standard two-line Hartford address is on the right side of the barrel and marked "COLT COMMANDO/38 SPECIAL" on the left side of the factory 2 inch barrel. The "VP" Colt proof and an inverted "A" are on the left side of the trigger guard, and a flaming ordnance bomb is above the cylinder release. Fitted with a pair of checkered plastic Rampant Colt grips. Includes a factory letter that confirms the revolver's serial number, caliber, barrel length, finish and that it was sold to the United States Government and shipped to U.S. Army Consolidating Station in New York, New York, on May 14, 1942, in a shipment of 500.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall. The revolver retains 97% of the original parkerized finish with some minor scattered scratches, minor muzzle wear, high edge wear on the frame and cylinder and a faint cylinder drag line. The grips are also excellent with some minor scattered scratches and dings. The checkering is crisp. Mechanically excellent.
