Manufactured by the Axtell Rifle Company (Riflesmith Inc.) of Sheridan, Montana, this reproduction of the Sharps 1877 Overbaugh Schuetzen rifle features a spirit level globe front sight, no rear barrel sight and a long range peep sight mounted on the upper tang. The top of the barrel is marked "--MODEL 1877-- AXTELL RIFLE CO. SHERIDAN MONT." and "CALIBRE 38". The barrel is blue, and the action, lever and hammer are casehardened. Fitted with adjustable double set triggers. Mounted on a multi-point checkered Schnabel tip forearm and pistol grip stock with a blue steel Axtel Rifle Co. grip cap, raised cheek piece and nickel finished Schuetzen style buttplate. Includes a small leather case marked "Sharps Rifle Co./Bridgeport Conn" on the lid containing two extra diopters, for the rear tang sight, an extra spirit level for the front and eight additional front sight inserts. Also includes a letter detailing the features, caliber and specifications.

Excellent with 98% of the original blue and casehardened finishes remaining, showing some light handling marks and minor surface scratches. The nickel finished buttplate has a mostly polished aluminum finish with traces of original nickel in the more protected areas near the rounded tips. The wood is excellent with some light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
