This rifle was manufactured in 1953; the Winchester Model 70 Featherweight was first introduced just two years earlier. It has a bead front sight with hood and stippled ramp, a Marble 69 folding rear sight, tapped receiver for scope and peep sight mounting, standard markings including matching serial numbers, late style safety and receiver, and a Monte Carlo stock with checkered forend and grip, sling swivels, and a checkered aluminum buttplate. The box is numbered to the gun and includes the manual. The .308 Winchester cartridge was the second most popular cartridge used in the Featherweight series with 40,989 identified as having been manufactured before 1964 as noted on page 120 of The Rifleman's Rifle.
