Description:

This Winchester Model 1866 SRC was manufactured in 1883 and has a bayonet stud blade front sight just behind the magazine retaining band and a folding ladder rear sight. The saddle ring and stud are on the left side of the receiver. It is marked with the two-line address and King's improvement marking on the top of the barrel and the serial number in script on the lower tang. It has a smooth forearm and straight wrist stock with brass buttplate with and empty trapdoor compartment.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The iron surfaces have a mix of brown and gray patina along with patches of oxidation and mild pitting. The crisp brass has an aged patina along with some verdigris along the rear edges. There are a series of strike marks on the bottom of the cartridge elevator. The rear barrel band screw does not connect with the opposite side of the band. The refinished wood is also fine with some small dings, minor scratches and a few small chips. The action functions fine but the lever is loose. The markings are legible.
