The Eulenburg Collection comes from the Hohenzollern Royal Family where they originated from the Eulenburg family estate of Liebenberg Castle in Brandenberg Germany. The Liebenberg circle can be traced to some of Kaiser Wilhelm II’s closest military and cultural advisors, and was named after the castle where they frequently met and hunted. This collection is a unique record of the role of hunting in political affairs within German society. The grounds in which these hunts took place were situated on one of the Kaiser’s favorite hunting preserves. A fallow deer skull European mount measuring approximately 23 inches high and 25 inches wide mounted to a replacement hand carved gilded wooden plaque. The skull is marked "Eulenburg" and "1892" in black ink and was reportedly taken by Kaiser Wilhelm II. Attached to the front is a Prussian 7th Hussars helmet plate. Hanging from the antlers is a reproduction embossed British Officer’s gorget. The plaque is approximately 28 inches high x 14 inches wide. These trophies have survived traversing the Atlantic, two World War, and the ravages of time and have been curated over a period of 40 years through private collectors, auctions and individuals in Europe.

Very good with some light cracks/separations of the bones in the skull due to age, a mixed color to the brass and mild handling marks overall.
