This is a very rare early Phoenix Arms Company copy (circa 1910-1920) of a Belgium Melior-Jeiffico semi-automatic pistol "serial number 1" and is a nice piece of Americana. This example is also very similar to the early Browning 1899/1900 small pocket pistol manufactured by FN Herstale. It has no factory markings or proofmarks with the only markings being the serial number on the right side. This is a blow-back operated pocket pistol the barrel mounted low in the frame/slide assembly with the recoil spring mounted above the barrel giving it a very low recoil during firing. It has fixed sights, a side mounted swing/flip safety lever on the left side with a all machined frame and slide assembly. It is fitted with a set of smooth walnut grips and is complete with its original magazines.
Very good overall with 40% of the original blue finish overall showing even honest wear on all the metal surfaces. The grips are also in very good condition with a nice smooth unsanded, dark brown color overall. Mechanically fine. As noted, this pistol is serial number "1".
