Description:

This is a nice example of a post-WWI Weimar era military Luger pistol as manufactured by the Simson and Co., Suhl Germany. The Simson & Company had an early contract with the Weimar government to manufacture and rework military Lugers for the new government in the 1921-1925 time frame. This was prior to when the DWM was allowed to rework and manufacture military lugers. This example has the standard "Simson & Co./Suhl" marked front toggle with a "1925" dated chamber area. The right side of the barrel extension has the standard "Eagle/33" and "Eagle/6" Simson & Co. rework/acceptance proofs with a double proof on the barrel; "Eagle/6" and "Eagle" firing proof. The left side of the breechblock also has the single eagle firing proof. Many of the various parts also have the small "Eagle/6" rework proof indicating acceptance by the Simson Company. It has the standard military style serial number placement with the full serial number on the major components with the last two digits (08) on the small parts. It has the standard safety and extractor markings along with the standard checkered walnut grips. It is comes with on tin-plate WWI magazine with a wooden base stamped "7762".

Rating Definition:

Fine as partially refinished (cold blue on barrel and side plate) with the balance retaining 85% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear, with actual blue loss on the front frame rails, center section of the barrel with thinning on the rear grip strap. The various smaller parts retain 50% of their straw colors overall with slightly more finish on the trigger. The walnut grips are in fine condition overall with visible checkering mixed with minor handling marks on both sides. 1925 dated Simson Lugers are quite scarce!
