Description:

This is a DWM Model 1906/20 standard Navy Commercial Luger with the "first issue" safety markings that was made for export to the United States in the 1920's. It is stamped "GERMANY" in four different places; the left side of the barrel extension, the left frame rail and again on the top left and right side of the rear toggle in front of the rear sight. It still retains the word "GESICHERT" in the lower position along with the standard "GELADEN" marked extractor. This example has the standard undated chamber area with the script "DWM" logo on the front toggle with a single small "Crown/N" commercial firing proof on the underside of the barrel. The underside of the barrel is also stamped with a single "Crown/M" acceptance proof. It has the full number on the front of the frame and right side of the barrel extension, with the partial number "86" on some of the smaller parts. The left side of the breech block has an "Imperial Eagle" firing proof indicating it was manufactured using left over military contract parts. It has the standard front sight with the two-position, Navy rear sight marked; "100" and "200". It comes with a nickel plated non-matching Navy type Luger magazine with the wooden base that is stamped: "Crown/M/2535".

Rating Definition:

Very fine as partially refinished (straw colors and grip safety) with 95% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with some thinning on the grip straps and some minor cold blue touch up on the grip safety. The various smaller part retain 85% of the straw colors fading more on the trigger and thumb safety lever. The grips are in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides. Mechanically excellent.
