Description:

Manufactured in 1910. Standard nickel steel/smokeless powder marking on the left side of the barrel next to the rear sight, ".30 U.S. MOD. 1903." at the breech and the two line address/patent dates on the left side of the receiver. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1895 / -WINCHESTER- / TRADE MARK" and the serial number appears on the lower tang behind the lever latch. The barrel is equipped with a dovetailed brass blade front sight and an adjustable rear sporting sight. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and crescent buttplate and mounted with a smooth walnut Schnabel forearm with ebony forend insert and straight grip stock.

Rating Definition:

Fine as partially refinished (wood). The barrel retains 70% thin original blue finish and the receiver retains 60% original thin blue finish. There is some minor spotting on the lever. The buttplate has a mottled brown and gray patina. The revarnished wood is very good with numerous scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine. A scarce chambering in 30.03 which was the first version of the 30.06.
