Description:

This Winchester Model 1866 Musket was manufactured in 1870. Has a bayonet stud/blade front sight, standard two-line address and King's improvement marking. Military style folding ladder rear sight, smooth musket forearm and straight wrist stock, sling swivels on the mid barrel band and butt, and a carbine style buttplate with a trapdoor compartment for a cleaning rod (not included). The serial number is marked in block numerals behind the trigger.

Rating Definition:

Fair. Traces of the original blue finish remain on the barrel and magazine tube. The iron components have moderate-heavy pitting. The "gunmetal" components have an attractive aged patina. The action cycles fine, but there are pieces missing from the bolt. The wood is good as sanded and reoiled with some dings and scratches. The barrel marking is partially obscured but the serial number is crisp.
