Manufactured in 1899. Standard receiver markings. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the two line nickel steel/smokeless powder marking, "30 U.S." is on top at the breech. The upper tang is marked "WINCHESTER/-MODEL 1895-", and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. Ahead of the upper tang marking is stamped "364"; the significance is unknown. Beaded blade front sight. The rear sight slot is filled, and there is a receiver mounted peep sight. Mounted with deluxe nicely figured multi-point checkered walnut forearm with an ebony forend insert and straight grip stock with a vented Pachmayr recoil pad.

Fair as shortened ( barrel with replaced front sight). The carbine retains 20% thin original blue finish mixed with smooth gray patina. There are a few scattered minor dings and scratches. The hammer shows most of the original case colors. The wood is good as altered (added recoil pad) with a couple of small minor sanded gouges on the forearm and overall scattered minor dings and scratches. The markings remain clear. The action is very good.
