The Winchester Model 1873 is one of the most iconic firearms in American history. It was used extensively across America especially in the Old West and has appeared in numerous iconic westerns. This late First Model 1873 carbine was manufactured in 1878 and has the mortised dust cover guide grooves and dust cover with integral checkered oval thumb rest. It is equipped with a saddle ring, blade front sight on the magazine band and a folding leaf rear sight. It has the standard smooth walnut forearm with single barrel band, and straight wrist walnut stock with carbine buttplate and trapdoor compartment for a cleaning rod (not included). The barrel is marked with the two-line address and King's improvement marking. The upper tang has the model designation and the lower tang has the serial number.

Very good plus. There are strong traces of bright original blue finish mixed in with a brown patina and some patches of oxidation and light pitting overall. The rear tang screw is damaged and the lever catch is missing. The wood is very good with numerous dings, small gouges, and mild scratches from hard use. The loading gate retains 40% original nitre blue. The markings are crisp. The dust cover screw is missing head and the cover stuck but the action is otherwise fine. These First Model Winchester 1873 SRC's are highly sought after!
