This is an excellent example of a factory engraved Savage Model 1899CD deluxe lever action rifle. These rifles were manufactured from 1905 to 1917. The rifle is fitted with a beaded blade front sight and a folding tang peep sight. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address/patent marking followed by "SAV. 303" at the breech. The upper left barrel flat is marked with the two-line steel/model marking. The sides and top of the frame have a floral scroll engraving. The top of the chamber has an engraved band and floral motif. Blue finish with casehardened lever. The highly figured walnut forearm and pistol grip stock feature multi-point checkering. The stock flats are also checkered. The buttstock is fitted with a crescent buttplate.

Excellent. The rifle retains 97% plus bright original high polished blue finish showing a few small areas of spotting/pitting on the top of buttplate. The lever retains 95% plus original case colors. The engraving is crisp. The wood is also excellent showing some minor handling marks with overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
