This wheellock carbine is all iron and has extensive engraving that covers nearly all of the surfaces aside from the barrel. The stock and lock plate are combined. There are numerous pierced through sections especially on the right side of the butt which has a floral design. The left side of the butt has a somewhat crude scene with pairs of Medieval warriors fighting. The first is wielding an axe against a crossbowman. The third is jabbing at the gut of a warrior holding a shield using a lance, but his blow appears to be about to be parried. The fifth is jabbing a lance at the face of another warrior with a shield. At the rear of the butt is a man on horseback and another man on foot. The battle scene is accented by floral engraving patterns and a tree. The forearm and other components have border engraving and scrollwork. The barrel is equipped with blade and notch sights. The wheel does not have the normal serrations and instead has mostly smooth surfaces with a few horizontal grooves. There are no visible maker's marks.
Fair with an extensive dark patina overall, mild oxidation, light pitting, and repairs along the left side. The blade front sight is sheared off even with the barrel. The action is untested.
