This is a nice example of a professionally engraved gold inlaid Mauser Broomhandle pistol. The pistol features beautiful floral scroll engraving covering the frame, barrel, barrel extension and magazine floor plate with a matte background. The back strap has a fine checkered pattern above the stock slot and a simple border on the sides of the slot. Above the checkered pattern is marked "C. Hinley". The muzzle, sides of the barrel extension, side rails, bottom of the magazine floor plate and frame have gold inlay wire borders. The right rear of the frame is marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER / OBERNDORF A. NECKAR" and the top of the chamber is marked with the three line address. Both markings are gold filled. Matching serial number marked on the barrel extension, hammer housing and the back strap. Properly the partial serial number "040" is marked on the hammer and bolt. The left side of the barrel and the top of the bolt handle are marked with the "crown / crown / U" proofs. Gold washed trigger and niter blue rear sight, extractor and safety lever. The rear sight markings are gold filled and it is graduated to 1,000 meters. The front sight is equipped with gold bead. Fitted with checkered walnut grips and a lanyard ring on the butt.
Very fine as professionally embellished with virtually all of the finish remaining. The trigger retains 95% of the gold with some minor flaking. The grips are very good with a few minor bruises and nicks in the checkering and a few minor dents on the bottoms. The checkering remains crisp. Some of the gold on the barrel address is worn, otherwise most of the gold fill inlays remains. All of the gold border inlay remains and the engraving is sharp. A very nice attractive engraved, gold inlaid Mauser Broomhandle pistol.
